Stardust

Vampire Diaries follows the story of Elena Gilbert and her vampire boyfriend Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and the latter’s vampire brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), who’s also fond of Elena.

Century old vampires Stefan and Damon returned to their hometown Mystic Falls, Virginia for different reasons. Stefan returned to get to know Elena Gilbert, a high schooler who bears a striking resemblance with Katherine Pierce, a beautiful but ruthless vampire whom he and his brother Damon used to love way back 1864.

On the other hand, his older brother Damon returned to Mystic Falls to release her long time love Katherine from the tomb, who is believed to be trapped by a witch’s spell for over a hundred years ago.

Aside from vampires, the town of Mystic Falls is also inhabited by supernatural beings like witches, and Bonnie, Elena’s best friend, also happens to be one.

I must say that compared to Twilight and True Blood, Vampire Diaries is scarier. Well, it’s not actually a thriller or horror type of series, but really, Vampire Diaries gave me nightmares as compared to True Blood. Maybe beacuse of too much addiction with Vampire series that I get vampire overload already? Anyway, don’t get me wrong but I also love True Blood. It’s just that the two series dwell on two different issues and I must say that True Blood is more modern. Twilight? Well, sorry to say but really, it’s more like a coming of age vampire flick so it caters more on the teenage group.

Contrary to what others say that True Blood and Vampire Diaries are copycats of Twilight, well, they’re in for a major dissapointment and well, embarassment, since the series Vampire Diaries was first published on the year 1991, True Blood is on the year 2001 while Twilight was first published on 2005. So there, I guess it’s very evident  who copied who, if ever.

Vampire Diaries Season 1 ended last May and its 2nd season is set to be shown on September 9 and I so can’t wait. This time, it’s more exciting with Katherine around. And did I mention that Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) is a real stunner?I especially love her hair and clothes. ^_^
