True Blood Seasons 1 and 2
I never thought I’d be hooked in True Blood. At first, I viewed it as a porn wannabe vampire flick so I ceased watching the series after three episodes. But since the story looks interesting enough and what I’m actually looking for is an original plot out of all the vampire movies out there, I decided to give True Blood a second chance, and guess what? I did not regret it and was actually happy for it that I can’t wait for next year for TB’s 3rd season.

Plot: With the creation of the synthetic blood called Tru Blood, the vampires automatically became a part of the citizen despite the apprehensions and protest of some.

True Blood Season 1 introduced the two lead characters in the person of Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin a.k.a. Rogue of Xmen), a waitress with a special power to read people’s mind and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a 173 year-old vampire.
The two fell in love and soon became an item despite their obvious differences. Lots of characters where introduced in the series, including Jason Stackhouse, Sookie’s brother and Sam Merlott, Sookie’s boss who has a liking on her.
TB Season 1, I must say, has lots of sex scenes so watching the flick with kids around is a BIG NO NO! Aside from the adjustment period that Bill and Sookie is undergoing because of their quite forbidden and unacceptable relationship, the small town of Bon Temps is faced with the mystery of all the murders of the women connected to Jason Stackhouse. At the end of the series, the true murderer was revealed, ending the first season with another threatening and more sickening problem.

True Blood Season 2 opens with a new character in the person of the Maenad Mary Anne who caused mayhem in the town of Bon Temps. Bill and Sookie was enlisted to help find the missing 2,000 year-old vampire sheriff Godric so they left their town for Dallas.
In Dallas, Jason, secretly joined an organization which is against the co- existence of vampires in the society. This organization is called Fellowship of the Sun. While in Dallas, Jason and Sookie accidentally met and left the place with Godric, who,all those time, was a captive of the Fellowship of the Sun Movement.

Jason had a change of heart about vampires whom he detest before because of what happened. Eric, another powerful vampire sheriff from Bon Temps, who assigned Bill and Sookie in Dallas was secretly eyeing for Sookie, making every possible way to make Sookie drink his blood so that the latter will develop a lust for him. Bill is aware of Eric’s desire for Sookie so he’s always on the lookout.
Returning to the town of Bon Temps from Dallas, Sookie and Bill discovered how their town was ruined by the ugly and vicious Mary Anne. She hypnotized almost every people there, including Tara, Sookie’s bestfriend, and ask them to get Sam Merlott, the shape shifter, for her.

At the end of the Season 2, the peace in the town of Bon Temps was restored but another tragedy in the relationship of Sookie and Bill is at stake.

Between True Blood Seasons 1 and 2, I must say that Season 2 has less sex scenes than Season 1 so it is safe to be watched by kids, but just a warning though, Season 2 have more gross scenes.
I can’t choose which is best between Season 1 and 2 because both tackle different stories, but if I am really forced to choose only one, I’d definitely choose Season 2. Season 1 gave me brain exercise in finding out who the killer was while Season 2 always make me look forward for the next episode to know how to kill that Maenad. I’m annoyed with Eric and I’m liking Bill so much for Sookie. And oh, there’s this new teenage girl vampire named Jessica, created by Bill, which is also an interesting character to watch out for.

I was so, so ,so left hanging with Season 2. I think I’m not going to like what will happen in Season 3. Will Sookie and Eric be an item??? Read somewhere that it’s possible and if ever that will happen, I am so gonna abhor Eric. Hmp! And oh, I just have to say this, I hate the opening song of True Blood so I always skip that part. I find it gross and weird.
Anyway, can’t wait for June 2010. Why is it have to be that long? =(

I must say I never watched True Blood before, because I love the books and find that no TV version of a book can ever hold a candle to it. And after reading your description, I’m right. Now as a stand alone thing it is good, but I don’t like the major changes to the plot. I feel the same of Anne Rice’s “Queen of the Damned”. In the books, the Maenad part starts when Lafayette’s body is found in Andy Bellefleurs car in the parking lot of Merlottes. The Maenad attacks Sookie as a message to Eric Northman and Sam runs around the woods with her, quite of his own free will. The events of Dallas are a different book and Jason never joins the Fellowship of the Sun, though is rather wary of vampires until he can make a buck off of them (through Sookie putting her neck out on the line). But, if you have never read the books I am sure that it is a fantastic television series.
